Overview of e-Business MinorJoin the e-Business (R)-evolution where tomorrow's technologies are fundamentally changing today's businesses.The Internet and the World Wide Web are creating tremendous opportunities and enormous risks for businesses of all types and sizes. E-Business and computer mediated interaction have transformed businesses by providing instantaneous large scale communications. This is causing radical changes in how companies conduct business and interact with the public, the government and each other. These changes are profoundly affecting what companies think about markets, products, supply-chains, procurement, distribution, pricing, payments and financial transactions, intellectual property, taxation issues, and global policies. In addition, these changes are raising important public policy issues related to privacy and the control, value and use of information. The e-Business minor offered by the College of Business (COB) at The University of West Florida, recognizes that e-Business is a discipline whose foundations bridge technology and business policies. Distinct from any of the functional areas that support technology and business, the e-Business minor is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program consisting of three foundation courses and two electives. The e-Business minor is intended to provide a solid foundation for those interested in pursuing opportunities in businesses that have already joined the e-Business (R)-evolution, as well as in businesses that are attempting to define the appropriate role of e-Business in their organizations.
