Frequently Asked QuestionsQUESTION: Does UWF offer its e-Business minor courses over the Internet? ANSWER: Not at the present time. You can, however, learn about e-Business on a self-study basis via the e-Business Resources.
QUESTION: What is the difference between e-Commerce and e-Business? ANSWER: E-Business involves the application of current and emerging technologies and processes to enhance, evolve and often replace the traditional ways of doing business. It includes e-Commerce, but goes much farther. E-Business utilizes technology to boost revenues, cut production cycle times and costs, improve customer service and broaden market share. Interactive relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners enable new products to be delivered faster and better, at a substantially lower cost. In effect, e-Business involves applying technology to a firm's entire value chain, resulting in linkages among manufacturers, assemblers, distributors, marketers and customers. It is this much broader focus that we want our students exposed to. QUESTION: How can I get more information about becoming a student at The University of West Florida? ANSWER: Visit the UWF web site page for prospective students at: http://uwf.edu/uwfMain/prospective.htm
QUESTION: Is e-Business a suitable area of study for someone who does not have a technical background? ANSWER: Yes, so long as you have a strong interest in understanding the fundamental changes that are occurring in the business world today because of e-Business. QUESTION: What is the first course that I should take for the e-Business Minor? ANSWER: ISM 3011 - Management Information Systems is the first course in the e-Business Minor sequence. It was formerly named E-Business I: Systems Fundamentals. QUESTION: If I took MAR 3370, Information Systems for Business Decisions, instead of ISM 3011, will I have to take ISM 3011? ANSWER: Yes, you will still need to take ISM 3011 if you are pursuing the e-Business Minor. The course coverage in MAR 3770 is very different from that in ISM 3011. QUESTION: I'm graduating in December, but would still like to pursue the e-Business Minor. Is that possible? ANSWER: Yes. Your diploma will indicate only your major, but your official University transcript will indicate both your major and any minor. Therefore, you can graduate as planned, but continue taking the e-Business Minor classes. QUESTION: To whom can I speak with if I want more information about the e-Business minor? ANSWER: Carol Rodgers, 474-2669, crodgers@uwf.edu
